Ken Sicknick, whose sibling died following two strokes in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack in Washington, spoke out after Chaffetz said progressives carry gas masks to protests as they “knock some heads” while conservatives take American flags to demonstrations and support law enforcement.
During an MSNBC appearance, Sicknick gave Chaffetz a lesson on how a number of rioters actually behaved during the Capitol attack.
Sicknick appeared on the network after multiple lawmakers, led by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), stopped by a Washington, D.C., jail to check on Jan. 6 rioters held there. Greene has compared rioters’ treatment to that of “political prisoners.”
A majority of the ones held at the D.C. jail have been accused of assaulting law enforcement.
“At least 17 of them have been charged with violent crimes against police officers,” Sicknick said. “This is a party that claims they ‘back the blue,’ yet 140 police officers were injured.”
